Homemade Pizza!

I haven't ever been able to upload videos from our 7-year old desktop, so I was excited to try with our new laptop... AND IT WORKED! The video content isn't terribly exciting, but the girls' voices sure are sweet, and I just know they won't stay like this forever (at least that's what I've been told).

For all of you who have been praying for Tennyson's heart, everything appears to be normal. She did have some arrythmias on her EKG, but nothing that needs to be treated right now. Her 24 hour Holter monitor results were normal. Praise God!

Can she just stay '3' forever?

Tennyson:
"Mommy, when will me 'n Sissy get advertis-ed (4 syllables)?"

Mommy:
"T, I'm sorry, honey, I'm not sure what you are trying to say."

Tennyson, with frustration:
"ADVERTIS-ED. When will we get advertis-ed?"

Mommy, with understanding:
"Are you meaning to say, 'When will you get BAPTIZED?'"

Tennyson, completely exasperated:
"Yes, baptized."

Opposite Confusion

The girls are home sick today. Well, they were yesterday too, but we're usually home on Mondays so it didn't seem like such an interruption in our schedule. I had Amaya lay down, along with Tennyson. I just bought a new vaporizer for her room, and it was spewing water out the top, and making an awful, rhythmic, gurgling sound.

I asked Amaya if the sound would bother her. She said, "No, I'm a dark sleeper."

"What did you say?" I asked.

"I'm a dark sleeper. Tennyson's the light sleeper. The sound won't bother me."

"Oh... you mean a heavy sleeper," I responded.

She has heard us say over and over how 'light' of a sleeper Tennyson is. She automatically assumed that if Tennyson was a light sleeper, she was a dark sleeper. Nope... it's the other opposite of light... heavy.

It's in moments like these that I remember she isn't quite so grown-up yet. She seems to be on most occasions: she's reading now, doing double-digit addition, memorizing chapters of the Bible, and can carry on a very appropriate conversation with just about anyone, no matter their age.

I like that God still provides us moms with so many moments to teach! I suppose that these moments don't become less frequent as our children get older, but rather just change in their content.

Dutch Babies, Fat Babies, and...

Dutch Babies... most of us probably know what these are. We call them German Pancakes at our house and they're our Sunday morning tradition for breakfast. You know the ones. As they bake in the oven, the sides travel up and over the pan in a light and fluffy goodness. Growing up, we always used lemon juice and powdered sugar to coat them; now, John, my somewhat picky husband, has convinced us all that syrup is a better option.

Fat Babies... these may not be as familiar to many of you. They certainly weren't to me until we visited my sister Hannah's house over Christmas. She has a Fat Baby collection... 8 to be exact. They're tucked away in boxes in her closet. She brings two out at a time. The newest edition of Fat Babies are always on her Birthday and Christmas lists. Boots... Ariat is the brand, Fat Baby is the style.

Boots were on my Christmas list. I was thinking of more the soft, Ugg style, type boot. My mom bought me a pair. Unfortunately, I looked like I belonged in the circus wearing them.
I returned them. And bought Fat Babies. While I keep trying to defend the fact that they aren't cowboy boots, they are sold at Coastal. They've been outlawed by the American Rodeo Association, but that's really my only recourse.

(these aren't mine...just an image I found)

I wore them for the first time yesterday. While I was taking Amaya to school, she told me that my 'Dutch Babies' were cute. I corrected her... a little too pridefully, saying "They're called FAT Babies, honey." (who came up with this name, anyway!)

Tennyson, who can only stand about two seconds of silence at any given time, had to pipe in. "I like your Fat Boobies, Mom." She really had no intention of being funny, but I busted up. So did Amaya.

"Honey, they're Fat BABIES, not boobies."

Tennyson, wearing her own set of actual cowboy boots responded, "Mom, yours are Fat Babies. Mine are Fat Boobies."

See what you've started, Hannah!
